Small Backpack Satchel
Couldn't load pickup availability
This small satchel converts: clip the straps to the fittings on the back and it's a backpack, worn on both shoulders or slung over one, and move them to the sides and it hangs across the body. The straps come off entirely, so it changes shape depending on the day rather than committing to one way of being carried. It's cut in a warm tan vegan leather with a lightly pulled-up surface, so the colour shifts a little across the panels where the light catches them.
Two buckled straps hold the flap down over the front, and underneath them sit concealed magnets. Set the buckles once at the holes that suit you and leave them there, then lift the flap and the magnets release with a light pull. Press it back down and they catch on their own. The bag is shut either way, so the buckles are there for the look of it and for when you want the front held tight, and the magnets do the everyday work.
Inside, the bag is lined in vegan suede, soft to the hand with a light grain, with a slip pocket set into the back panel. The gusset is set in as a separate piece, which gives it depth and lets it hold its shape rather than collapsing flat when it's empty.
Presented in a Will's Vegan Shoes cotton drawstring dust bag.
Body: Italian bio-based vegan leather with 62–66% plant-origin renewable materials. Bio-based polyurethane surface on a viscose backing, made in Italy using water-based, solvent-free processes.
Lining: Portuguese vegan suede (100% polyurethane).
Hardware: Zamak, a durable zinc alloy.
- Hardware
- Two solid buckles cast in zamak, a durable zinc alloy, fasten the front straps, with rivets set through the flap corners and the strap anchors to take the load where the leather works hardest. Concealed magnets sit under the flap for quick access without unbuckling. The shoulder strap is removable, clipping on with sprung snap hooks to D-rings at the back for backpack wear or at the sides to carry it on or across the shoulder
- Construction
- Cut and closed by hand, with the panels turned and stitched rather than bonded, so the seams carry the load and the edges are finished on the inside. The gusset is set in as a separate piece, which is what gives the bag its depth and lets it stand up on its own rather than collapsing flat when it's empty. Straps and buckle tabs are set on their own reinforced patches, so the pull spreads into the panel instead of into a single line of stitching
- Water Resistance
- Water-resistant. The vegan leather surface sheds rain rather than soaking it up, so a shower on the way to the station wipes off with a cloth. The stitching and the zips aren't sealed, and the flap isn't a closed seal, so it isn't waterproof and shouldn't be left out in sustained rain or set down on wet ground
- Closure
- Adjustable buckled strap with concealed magnetic fastening. Set the buckle once at the holes that suit you and leave it there, then lift the flap and the magnet releases with a light pull. Press it back down and it will seal shut on its own.
