A flatform sandal in two tones, and the colour is doing the design work. The body is black vegan nubuck ā one wide band across the toes, a strap over the instep and another round the ankle ā and every edge of it is bound in sand, so a fine pale line traces the whole shoe. The same sand runs through the footbed and up the covered buckle, which sits in tone rather than in metal. It's a graphic, slightly retro look, and the contrast is what gives a simple three-strap sandal its character.
The nubuck is Italian and finely finished, matte and soft to the touch, with the closed nap that separates nubuck from ordinary suede. Underneath, the platform is wrapped in the same vegan suede as the sandal so the sole belongs to the shoe rather than sitting beneath it, with a tonal tan rubber strip along the base for grip and durability. At 2cm it lifts you a little and levels the foot rather than tipping it ā the ease of a flat with a bit more presence.
Inside, Portuguese vegan suede (100% PU) lines the straps and footbed, over a layered insole with a soft memory-foam top on a recycled PU base (20% recycled PU). The ankle strap adjusts through the strap holes, so the fit sets exactly where you want it.
Wear them with a black midi and the pale edging picking up against it, wide linen trousers, a slip skirt, cropped or barrel-leg denim, or anything cream and summery where the black does the anchoring. Easy to walk in, easy to wear all day, and full of character.
