- A solid roller buckle cast in zamak, a zinc alloy, holds the front strap, with a rivet set through the strap tab where the leather takes the pull. The roller is the part that makes the difference day to day: the bar turns as you feed the strap through, so the tongue drops into the hole without you having to force it or work the leather back and forth, and the strap wears evenly rather than creasing at one point. Underneath the flap there's a concealed magnet, and that's what you'll use most of the time. Set the buckle once at the hole that suits you and leave it there, then just lift the flap and the magnet releases with a light pull. Press it back down and it catches on its own. The buckle is there when you want the bag properly closed, and the magnet handles everything in between. The shoulder strap is fixed to the bag, with a slide adjuster to set the length, so you can wear it long across the body or shorten it to sit at the hip
- Construction
- Cut and closed by hand, with the panels turned and stitched rather than bonded, so the seams carry the load and the edges are finished on the inside. The gusset is set in as a separate piece, which is what gives the bag its depth and lets it stand up on its own rather than collapsing flat when it's empty. Straps and buckle tabs are set on their own reinforced patches, so the pull spreads into the panel instead of into a single line of stitching
- Water Resistance
- Water-resistant. The vegan leather surface sheds rain rather than soaking it up, so a shower on the way to the station wipes off with a cloth. The stitching and the zips aren't sealed, and the flap isn't a closed seal, so it isn't waterproof and shouldn't be left out in sustained rain or set down on wet ground
