The Pea Coat was worn first by sailors, and the shape has barely needed changing since the 1720s — double-breasted front, wide notched lapels, a single vent at the back, and enough length to cover you without getting in the way. Ours keeps that line in navy, and it's a coat you can wrap around you and feel properly covered in.
It's cut from a thick-gauge fabric made in Italy using Supima® cotton grown in the USA under the Better Cotton Initiative. Supima has an extra-long staple, which is what gives the cloth its softness and its quiet lustre, and makes it strong and slow to pill. Through the body there's a thermal insulated lining made in Italy from 100% recycled polyester (rPET), so there's real warmth in it rather than just weight.
The front fastens with matt-finish buttons made from recycled compressed paper and resin, and the cuffs are finished with buttoned tabs. Two deep slip pockets sit at the hip and there's a buttoned pocket inside. The coat is lined in Italian-made viscose with a smooth finish, so it slides on over knitwear without dragging.
Wear it over tailored trousers and derbies for the sharper version, or over slim denim with recycled knitwear and work boots for the everyday one. It also works over a midi dress and tall boots, the double-breasted front holding the shape at the waist. It's a coat that takes almost anything you put with it, so let the shoes decide the register.

- Water Resistance
- Showerproof rather than waterproof. The dense cotton-blend face will hold off light rain for a short while, but it soaks through in sustained or heavy wet and takes time to dry. Best with an umbrella in proper rain

It is mid weight fabric with nice texture to it.
The sizing is true: I'm a 5'3 135lb and got an L so I could later.
The sleeves are slightly long for me, which i expected since this is regular sizing. I was able to fold sleeves and it stayed in place. Definitely would recommend it.
I really like the Pea Coat though I haven't worn it yet as it seems to be more of a spring or early fall jacket - I live in Yukon, Canada and it gets pretty cold up here starting in mid September. I will be attaching another button and button hole at the bottom as it seems to protrude outward in the front where it is open at the bottom. This will also prevent cool air from entering. Other than this issue, I am really happy to finally have a vegan Pea Coat! I am 68 and have been vegan for 34 years, vegetarian 18 years prior. I have wanted a Pea Coat for literally the last 45 years but have never been able to find one that was made ethically without any animals being killed and/or oppressed and not made in a factory somewhere in China by children and womyn. Thanks! Never expected to have one in this lifetime!
Exactly what I wanted. Beautiful design and excellent quality.
Surprisingly warm too
