A messenger sits differently to anything else you can carry. It rides across the body rather than hanging off one shoulder, which means it stays where you put it and leaves both hands free, and everything inside is one flap away rather than at the bottom of something. Ours is generously cut: the width takes a 15 inch laptop, a tablet, an A4 notebook or a hardback lying flat, and it's deep enough for an umbrella, a water bottle and the rest of the day alongside. The top handle picks it straight up off the floor or a café table, and the strap clips on to wear it over the shoulder or across the body, with a padded shoulder piece lined in vegan suede where it crosses you. Pulled round onto your back it stays put for riding a bike or anywhere you need your hands free, and it comes off entirely when you want the handle alone.
The flap closes through two metal bridges set on the front, one either side. The vegan leather straps that hang from the flap drop down through them, so there's no buckle to set and no pin to line up: the strap feeds through, the bridge holds it, and the flap sits flat against the body. Lift the strap back out and the flap swings open. Inside, a zip closes a pocket in the lining for keys, glasses and a wallet.
It's cut in our signature Italian bio-based vegan leather and lined in vegan suede, soft to the hand with a light grain. The gusset is set in as a separate piece and runs down each side, giving the bag its depth and letting it hold its shape rather than collapsing flat when it's empty.

Body: Italian bio-based vegan leather with 62–66% plant-origin renewable materials. Bio-based polyurethane surface on a viscose backing, made in Italy using water-based, solvent-free processes.

- Two metal bridges sit on the front of the bag, one either side, and the vegan leather straps that hang from the flap drop down through them to close it. The bridges are stitched down onto the front panel through their own tabs, so the pull is spread into the panel rather than held on the metal alone. There's a D-ring on a folded vegan leather tab at each end of the bag. The webbing strap clips on with sprung snap hooks and adjusts for length through a slider, with a vegan leather pad that sits on the shoulder and stops the webbing digging in when the bag is full. Unclip both ends and it comes off completely, and the bag carries on the top handle alone. Inside, a zip closes the pocket in the lining, its pull carrying a vegan leather tab so you can find it without looking

- Cut and closed by hand, with the panels turned and stitched rather than bonded, so the seams carry the load and the edges are finished on the inside. The gusset is set in as a separate piece and runs down each side, which gives the bag its depth and lets it hold its shape rather than collapsing flat when it's empty. The flap is cut as one piece over the top and down the front, and its straps, along with the D-rings and handle, are set on their own reinforced patches so the pull spreads into the panel instead of into a single line of stitching
- Water Resistance
- Water-resistant. The vegan leather surface sheds rain rather than soaking it up, so a shower on the way to the station wipes off with a cloth. The stitching and the zips aren't sealed, and the flap isn't a closed seal, so it isn't waterproof and shouldn't be left out in sustained rain or set down on wet ground
- Closure
- Adjustable buckled strap with concealed magnetic fastening. Set the buckle once at the holes that suit you and leave it there, then lift the flap and the magnet releases with a light pull. Press it back down and it will seal shut on its own.
