The Luxe Deep Tread Chelsea is a refined Chelsea set on a chunky lugged sole — a clean, close-fitting ankle boot with real weight and grip underneath. Everything easy about a Chelsea is here, the elasticated side gussets and pull tab that let it slip straight on, but the fit is the quiet luxury: the uppers are cut so the opening hugs the ankle with no gap, for a smooth, uninterrupted line from leg to foot.
They're made in our Italian vegan leather (62–66% plant-origin materials), with a smooth finish that keeps its shape and quietly ages into a lived-in look, in a classic black, a warm dark brown and a soft chestnut with real character. An embroidered WVS pull tab in recycled polyester at the back makes them easy to pull on, and a WVS emboss is set into the outsole. Underneath, a hard-wearing rubber outsole made with 10% recycled rubber runs a deep lugged tread on a low 3.5cm heel, with a steel shank through the arch — proper grip for wet pavements and winter ground under a boot that still reads refined. Soft underfoot on a cushioned, memory-foam-topped insole, with a Portuguese vegan suede lining against the foot.
The chunky sole gives an outfit weight and intent: it grounds tailored trousers and a long coat so the look reads considered rather than corporate, holds its own beneath straight, slim and wide-leg jeans with the lug just showing at the hem, and adds a bit of welcome toughness under a midi dress or a skirt with tights. It's the polished boot you can actually take through a wet winter — presence and grip in something that still looks sharp.

- Mounted (cemented) construction – the upper is lasted to shape and the outsole bonded directly underneath. The most widely used construction method in footwear, it gives a clean, flexible build, though the outsole isn't easily resoled

- Water-resistant for everyday wear – keeps you dry in rain, puddles, wet streets, and most winter conditions. Just avoid heavy saturation or full submersion.

I had similar boots from this brand before, which lasted me for over 6 years. The new ones are just as high in quality, would recommend to anyone who needs comfy but smart boots!

I've been using the previous version of this style for 4 years and used to love everything about them.
I tried a deeper thread sole this time in an effort to keep the new pair even longer.
I must say, I found the previous style somewhat more elegant and nicely snug around the neck of the foot, whereas the current style leaves a bit more space between the foot and the shoe and looks slightly "chubbier" in that sense.
I agree with other reviewers in regard to the tougher upper, but I don't really find the new model less comfortable than the previous.
The level of protection from rain and wet terrain hasn't changed, I've been walking and cycling in all types of rain wearing them and never got wet feet.
I have been using them daily, sometimes for longer walks, for 3 months and they still are exactly as I received them, I will review them again if anything changes.
