Duffel Bag

This is the bag that grows with the day. The main compartment closes with a drawcord and the flap comes down over it, so it stands 48cm tall loaded for travel and packs down to 38cm for a day out, with the buckles catching at whichever holes suit. One bag covers the commute, the overnight, and the walk into town with a jacket rolled on top. At 15cm deep it takes a 15 inch laptop, an A4 notebook or a hardback, with room alongside for an umbrella, a water bottle and the rest of the day. A front pocket under the flap holds a phone, keys, pens or a paperback where you can reach them without opening the top.
Two roller buckles hold the long front straps down over the flap. The roller turns as you feed the strap through, so the tongue drops into its hole without forcing it, and there's a good run of holes down each strap, which is what lets the bag work at both heights. Under the flap the drawcord runs through metal eyelets around the opening and pulls tight through a vegan leather tab. Pull the cord, drop the flap, buckle it down, or leave the buckles set and just work the cord for a quick look inside.
The body is heavyweight cotton canvas, lined in cream cotton canvas, with the straps, tabs and trim cut from our signature Italian bio-based vegan leather. The shoulder straps adjust through sliders at the base and there's a grab handle at the top. In Black and Navy.

- Hardware
- Two solid roller buckles cast in zamak, a zinc alloy, hold the long front straps down over the flap, with bar-tack stitching where the straps meet the body to take the load. The rollers turn as you feed the strap through, so the tongue drops into the hole without forcing it. There's a good run of holes punched down each strap, which is what lets the bag adjust from 48cm down to 38cm as you fill or empty it. Under the flap the main compartment closes with a drawcord, running through metal eyelets set around the opening and pulling tight through a vegan leather tab. Pull the cord, drop the flap, buckle it down — or leave the buckles set and just work the cord for a quick look inside. A zip runs down the side of the front pocket, and there's a second inside the lid. Each pull carries a vegan leather tab. The shoulder straps adjust through sliders at the base, and there's a grab handle at the top
- Water Resistance
- Showerproof. The close-woven cotton canvas holds off a shower, but cotton soaks rather than sheds, so it wets through in prolonged rain and the seams aren't sealed
- Closure
- Buckled front straps over a vegan leather drawcord. Pull the cord tight through the eyelets to close the opening, drop the flap, and buckle the straps down over it. Set the buckles at the holes that suit you and leave them there, and the cord alone gets you in and out for a quick look inside

I've used this backpack almost daily for the past 4 years and I'm still pleased with it. I find the bag relatively comfortable even though there's no padding on the back. A few months ago the strap rings broke so I had them fixed at a local clothes-alteration shop. When I washed it for the first time, the yellowness on the lining faded somewhat, but that's just on the inside of the bag anyway. Of course the blue on the outside is not as vibrant after years of usage as it was on the first day.
Der Rucksack hat eine schöne Farbe, es passt viel rein und er trägt sich gut. Durch die beiden Riemen dauert das Auf- und Zumachen verhältnismäßig lange. Sonst ein gutes Produkt.
