The collar stays soft and unpadded, and the throat opens wide enough to get in and out easily. A shank runs underfoot for real support through the arch, while the outsole stays flexible where you push off.

The upper is one clean sweep of our signature Italian bio-based vegan leather in a deep burnished brown, low sheen, catching the light across the toe and settling into soft creases across the vamp as you wear it in. The toe is gently almond-shaped — enough shape to sit neatly under a trouser hem, relaxed enough to wear with jeans on a Saturday.

The details reward a closer look. Where the facings meet the vamp there's a small cross worked by hand in matching thread. Another hand-stitched detail sits across the top of the heel counter, and a fine stitch line traces the whole length of the sole edge. Warm tan lining shows at the throat against the dark upper.

In brown, this is the most versatile boot you can own. Turn up a pair of straight-leg blue jeans just enough to show the lacing, add a white tee and an overshirt, and you have the classic. Swap to olive, tan or navy chinos with an oxford shirt and a fine-knit sweater and you're into smart casual — dinner, a Friday in the office. Add a navy blazer and a matching brown belt and it holds its own in a business casual room. Grey flannel trousers and a topcoat in winter is the dressiest this boot goes, and it goes there well.
