A wholecut oxford in tan: the upper cut from a single piece of Italian vegan leather (62–66% plant-origin materials) so it runs unbroken from toe to heel, with no toe cap, no brogueing, nothing to interrupt the line. It's the quietest shape in the dress-shoe vocabulary and the least forgiving — with no seams to hide behind, everything rests on the shape of the last and the finish of the material.

The tan does a lot of the work. It sits somewhere between saddle and chestnut, burnished a shade deeper at the toe and around the heel so the colour shifts as the light moves across it, and it warms up further with wear. That burnish is yours to keep up, too: a dark polish worked gently into the toe and heel will bring the depth back as it fades, and every so often it's worth handing them to a cobbler, who can build it up properly and keep the character the shoes have earned rather than flattening it out. Against the tan, the dark laces read as a deliberate contrast rather than an afterthought — helped by hidden eyelets set behind the leather, so the lacing shows as five clean lines with no metal on display. The laces are extra-strong and long enough to tie properly (100% recycled polyester), finished with metal tips in zamak, a durable zinc alloy.

Underneath, a slim TR outsole keeps the shoe close to the ground and the silhouette sharp, with a compressed Tunit heel — a hard-wearing rubber-resin compound — in a classic stacked finish that gives the profile its layered edge. The upper is lasted to shape and the sole bonded directly beneath it, which is what keeps the whole thing so light and so clean along the welt line. Inside, Portuguese vegan suede (100% PU) lines the foot, over a layered insole with a soft memory-foam top on a recycled PU base (20% recycled PU) — so a shoe this sleek doesn't ask you to suffer for it.

It's a proper tailoring shoe: navy or grey, a slim or straight trouser with a clean break, an overcoat in winter. But tan gives it more range than black ever has — chinos and a knit, raw or dark indigo denim turned up just enough to show the stacked heel, a linen suit in summer. Wear it where you'd want the shoe noticed for its shape rather than its detailing.
