Our notes
We've not changed our NY Sneakers much since they first launched in 2015.
Like most models in our permanent collection, we've just made tweaks and adjustments along the way to make them the best vegan sneakers we know how.
The newest update we've made is to the uppers. In the latest batch, they're made with our new matt finish Italian vegan leather made with 69% biobased content.
We love this new finish. We think it gives a more luxe feel & look. Actually, we're using it in all new batches of our white sneakers & trainers.
Another thing is the tan rubber outsoles on the bottom now have recycled content. You'll see this in the flecks of material contained within them.
Apart from that, nothing has changed. Same side-wall stitching on the outsoles.
Same stitching details throughout the uppers. Same deep squishy recycled insoles. Same comfy fit. Same attention to detail you can expect from WVS, from the metal lace tips to the super-strong laces made from recycled polyester.

- Matt finish Italian vegan leather made with 69% biobased content.
- Flexible, grippy and durable sidewall stitched rubber outsoles with recycled content. You'll see this in the flecks of material contained within them.
- Deep and squishy recycled insoles.
- There are two types of vegan suede lining the inside. This helps air circulate helping to keep your feet cool and providing another layer of comfort for your feet.
- Strong laces made with recycled polyester with recycled lace tips.

I usually love WVS so I was super sad to see that these broke down at the at the heel after only a couple of months of wear. I even tried to ask a cobbler to fix them but he said the fabric was completely wore off and there wasn't much he could do.
For this price, and for the ethics of slow fashion of brand, I would have expected a longer life :(
Sadly I had to ask for a refund for my NY sneakers. They looked great and were really comfirtable but after a few weeks the lining had developed holes around the heel and inside the toe area. Such a shame as I shop with Wills in order to reduce waste and usually Wills shoes last but not this time.
I think these sneakers are absolutely adorable. Unfortunately they are terrible walking shoes and too big for a USA Women's size 7. My shins and feet hurt after walking with them.
I have been a long time customer of WVS & had these deceivers to my son in London rather than NZ ready to use for travelling. From day one they were perfect initially slight rubbing as my feet a bit swollen from travel but nothing a Band-Aid couldn’t fix. I have worn nearly every day for last 3 weeks including a bit of ‘off road’ - really happy. Easy to clean and I expect a few years of use . Stylish enough for walking around cities and practical enough for other places.
I bought these shoes in anticipation for a trip to Japan and received them about 2 weeks before my vacation. They were my daily shoes and did not require breaking in at ALL! Very impressed. However, the fabric at the back of the heels were shredded by the end. I felt like they should have lasted longer than the total 4 weeks I had had them. I did find a local store to repair them, and overall I'm very happy with my purchase!
