This is the traditional briefcase shape done properly: a squared body that stands up on its own, a full flap over the front, and two buckled straps holding it down. It's the one you carry when you want the bag to say something before you've opened it. Inside there's the width for a 15 inch laptop, a tablet, an A4 notebook or a hardback lying flat, with the depth for an umbrella and the day's papers alongside. The top handle carries it by hand, and the strap clips on to wear it over the shoulder or across the body, with a padded shoulder piece lined in vegan suede where it crosses you. It comes off entirely when you want the handle alone.
Two buckled straps hold the flap down over the front, and underneath them sit concealed magnets. Set the buckles once at the holes that suit you and leave them there, then lift the flap and the magnets release with a light pull. Press it back down and they catch on their own. The bag is shut either way, so the buckles are there for the look of it and the magnets do the everyday work. Inside, a zip closes a pocket in the lining for keys, glasses and a wallet.
It's cut in our signature Italian bio-based vegan leather and lined in vegan suede, soft to the hand with a light grain. The gusset is set in as a separate piece, which gives it its depth and lets it stand square rather than slumping when it's empty.

Body: Italian bio-based vegan leather with 62–66% plant-origin renewable materials. Bio-based polyurethane surface on a viscose backing, made in Italy using water-based, solvent-free processes.

- Two roller buckles hold the short front straps down over the flap, one either side, set on tabs that carry the pull into the body panel. The roller turns as the strap feeds through, so the tongue drops into its hole without you having to force the vegan leather over the pin, and the strap wears along its length rather than creasing at one hole. Underneath the flap sit two magnetic snaps, and that's what does the daily work. Set the buckles once at the holes that suit you and leave them, then lift the flap and the magnets release with a light pull. Press it down and they catch on their own. The buckles are there when you want the bag properly shut, and the magnets handle everything in between. The top handle is held in a metal bracket at each end, hinged so it folds flat against the lid when you're not carrying it and stands up when you are. The webbing shoulder strap clips on with sprung snap hooks to a fitting at each side and adjusts for length through a slider, so it comes off completely if you want the handle alone. - Cut and closed by hand, with the panels turned and stitched rather than bonded, so the seams carry the load and the edges are finished on the inside. The gusset is set in as a separate piece, which gives the bag its depth and lets it hold its shape rather than collapsing flat when it's empty. Straps, handles and fittings are set on their own reinforced patches, so the pull spreads into the panel instead of into a single line of stitching

- Water-resistant. The vegan leather surface sheds rain rather than soaking it up, so a shower on the way to the station wipes off with a cloth. The stitching and the zips aren't sealed, and the flap isn't a closed seal, so it isn't waterproof and shouldn't be left out in sustained rain or set down on wet ground

I've used the briefcase for two months already at my day job and it matches perfectly w my brown belt and boots and it's so nice to finally feel like I fit in at work with comfortable business clothes and apparel. The work laptop fits perfectly into the middle slot too!
The briefcase itself seems a well-made item. Unfortunately the wrong strap was sent with the briefcase (WVS sent the for the black briefcase rather than the one for the chestnut version).
A WVS member of staff responded by stating that the straps for the black and chestnut case were the same colour. When I sent images of each, they conceded they are different straps but then said that in fact the image on the website was at fault and would be changed (it hasn't been changed). They still haven't resolved this issue and the experience in general has been poor. It is a shame as the products are generally good.
The images include one of the many excuses sent, the black strap with the case, and a close up of the straps for the black and chestnut briefcase next to one another - sent to WVS after they said they were the same colour.

Love this briefcase. Really great quality, reasonably priced for its quality, and on top of that animal and environment friendly. Strongly recommend.
I bought this briefcase for my husband originally 2 years ago for his birthday. He loved it and used it every day for work. Unfortunately he over packed it and eventually the handle strap broke. This really was him putting way too many heavy things in it as the briefcase is excellent quality. I contacted Wills to ask if I could get it repaired and they ended up sending a new one. This was very kind and great customer service, though a shame that there was no way to repair the handle as otherwise the briefcase looks brand new still. It is truly high quality vegan leather and looks really stylish and professional!
