A black leather high-top on a clean white cupsole, and a shape that's stayed more or less the same since 2016. The collar rises above the ankle and is padded generously all the way round, so it holds the foot without pressing on it, and the panels are cut simply — a plain toe, a curved side seam, a small WVS emboss at the tongue and outer quarter, and nothing else on it. The whole appeal is in the proportion and the colour break.
The upper is Italian vegan leather (62–66% plant-origin materials), smooth and matte, with the stitching left visible along every panel edge — a fine tonal line tracing the shape of the boot. It laces through metal eyelets in zamak, a durable zinc alloy, with extra-strong laces (100% recycled polyester) and metal tips to match.
The sole is where the contrast lives. A hard-wearing cupsole, sidewall-stitched in rubber (10% recycled rubber), with a tan rubber tread underneath — so you get a bright white wall around the base of the black upper and a warm gum edge below it, three clear bands from top to bottom. Look closely at the tan and you'll see flecks of colour through it, which is the recycled content left visible rather than hidden away. Underfoot, a layered insole with a soft memory-foam top on a recycled PU base (20% recycled PU).
They're an easy shape to wear and they carry further than a low trainer does. Black or indigo denim, straight or cuffed, with an oversized knit and a long coat. Wide or barrel-leg jeans with a bit of ankle showing. Cropped tailored trousers when you want something soft above and something solid below. A good pair to keep in rotation from autumn right through the year.
