Our Notes

Rain, puddles, cold and wet streets — these keep your feet dry all season in a smart shoe that feels like a trainer. They're one of our most popular shoes, and it's easy to see why: the pair you reach for when it's pouring but you still need to look sharp.

Our Waterproof Derbys are made in Portugal using an advanced injection-moulding process, the kind usually reserved for high-performance hiking and sports footwear like our WVSport collection. The dual-density PU sole is moulded and fused directly onto the upper in one piece, creating a completely sealed base that keeps water out. A PFC/PFA-free Sympatex® membrane sealed inside takes that protection up to the lace line, so rain, puddles, splashes and wet ground are no problem and your feet stay dry through long days.

The uppers are onMicro® waterproof microfibre — a breathable, PFC-free vegan leather that keeps water out while letting your feet breathe. Being fully synthetic, they won't rot, crack or spoil the way natural leather can when it's soaked and dried again and again, and road salt won't mark or stain them either — a quick wipe with warm soapy water and they're clean. It makes them an ideal material for shoes that see a lot of weather.

Inside, breathable onSteam® linings wick moisture away and resist odour, with thick, removable cushioned insoles for shock absorption and all-day comfort. The outsole gives solid grip and protection underfoot, and recycled polyester laces with metal tips finish the look.

It's a smart Derby through and through — a soft square toe and quarter double-stitch detailing make it as refined as it is practical — but it's light on the foot and wears like a pair of trainers, ready for work, travel, or everyday life in all weather.

Insole: Contoured, removable insole that follows the shape of your foot – made from memory foam with PU and recycled PU
Outsole: Dual-density PU outsole, direct-injected onto the upper – a softer comfort layer underfoot over a firmer, hard-wearing base that wears and feels like a lightweight trainer sole
Laces: Long, extra-strong laces (100% recycled polyester), with metal lace tips (100% zamak — a durable zinc alloy)

Construction & Features

Lining: onSteam® breathable microfibre lining (100% polyester) – temperature-regulating and highly absorbent, it wicks moisture away to keep feet dry, with naturally antibacterial, odour-resisting and hypoallergenic properties
Shank: Steel shank for stability and support through the arch
Hardware: Hidden metal eyelets that sit behind the vegan leather for a clean finish, with metal lace tips — both 100% zamak (a durable zinc alloy)
Construction: Direct-injected sole – moulded and bonded directly to the upper for a strong, fully sealed, hard-wearing construction
Water Resistance: Fully waterproof to the lace line, with a PFC-free Sympatex® membrane (polyetherester, polyester-based) sealed inside. Can be submerged, splashed, and worn through slush and snow, keeping feet dry. Road salt won't mark or spoil them.

Ethics & Origin

This product is ethically made in Portugal under EU employment, discrimination and health & safety law. It's vegan from the uppers and linings to the glue. It's delivered to you in plastic-free paper and cardboard packaging. We measure the emissions from making and delivering it, and work to a plan to reduce them.

Care Guide

Clean: Wipe the uppers and outsoles with warm soapy water and a cloth or soft brush, then towel dry thoroughly.

Road salt: Salt won't mark or spoil these uppers, but it's worth wiping off when you can. Clean it away with warm soapy water and a cloth, then towel dry — no need for vinegar or special treatments on this material.

Polish: A synthetic polish can be used to bring back shine and refresh the colour — any synthetic product should work fine, applied as described in its instructions. If your footwear has a burnished effect on the toes and sides (we apply a darker polish to some of our brown vegan leather uppers for effect), this is best reapplied by a cobbler, or at home using a darker shade of polish worked around the toes and sides.

Drying: You can dry your footwear on top of or near a radiator or other heat source. Depending on the heat, it can take a few days to dry out the insides fully. Never put your footwear in the washing machine.

Deodorising: Don't let your footwear stay damp between wears, as this can let microbes develop and cause a smell. If this happens, dry the footwear thoroughly and use a footwear deodoriser until the smell stops. In extreme cases, wash the insides out with warm soapy water, then dry fully and reapply the deodoriser.

Waterproofing (optional): These uppers are already waterproof, so a spray isn't needed — but you can treat them with a standard waterproofing spray if you'd like to protect them further and add extra stain resistance. Most standard sprays work fine on our vegan leather.

Built to last: Because the uppers are fully synthetic, they won't rot, crack or spoil the way natural leather can when it's repeatedly soaked and dried — which makes them an ideal material for waterproof footwear that sees a lot of wet weather.

Fit and comfort notes:

Width and volume: our footwear is designed with a slightly wider D width fitting, offering more width and volume than most brands.
Materials: we use high quality vegan leather and suede. These materials are stable and won't stretch out significantly over time, so we recommend sizing up for comfort.
The perfect fit: you don't want the shoes to pinch your feet. You should have wiggle room for your toes and no rub points.
Feel: in most cases you'll find our footwear is comfy straight out of the box. Depending on the style or your foot shape, it can sometimes take a few wears for the uppers to soften and mould to your feet.

Stand on a hard surface with your heel against a wall.
Measure your foot from the heel (the wall) to the longest point of your toes.
Use this number to find your size in the chart above.

It is helpful to measure both feet, as one foot is often slightly larger than the other. Always choose the size that accommodates your longest foot.
